Lionel Messi Gets 21-Month Jail Sentence, But Will He Serve The Jail Time?

Lionel Messi has been imprisoned for 21 months. Yes, you read that privilege, Lionel Messi, most likely the best footballer of all time has been prisoned for 21 months following a court appeal to repeal the imprisonment taking after tax fraud allegations.

As per sources, between 2007 and 2009, Messi and his father Jorge were found liable by the Barcelona court for defrauding for €4.1m from €10.1m in image rights earnings between 2007 and 2009.

Messi and his father appeared before the Barcelona court pleading their innocence, Messi also paid €5m voluntarily, including interest for tax overdue debts in 2013 yet that wasn’t sufficient.

Today the decision came that Lionel Messi and his dad will be imprisoned for 21 months with quick effect plus will be paying a penalty of €2 million.

Jail time least likely!

Messi will be asked to serve 21 months in a Spanish jail and pay €2 million in this way taking after his tax fraud but as per Spanish law, any jail sentence under two years, i.e. 24 months can be filled in as probation, and there won’t be any prison time required to serve. Nonetheless, there won’t be any getting away from the fine.
